Strive Buys 1,110 More Bitcoin as Strategy Stays Quiet With $6.5B Cash Reserve
Strive has added another 1,110 BTC to its balance sheet, increasing its total Bitcoin holdings to 21,356 BTC, according to an August 24 post from CEO Matt Cole.
Cole said the Bitcoin treasury company and asset manager paid $81.5 million for the latest purchase, at an average cost of $73,409 per Bitcoin.
Strive bought in tranches as Bitcoin climbed
The acquisition was not completed in a single transaction. According to the source material, Strive bought 147 BTC between August 3 and August 7 at an average price of just over $64,800, then added another 79 BTC about a week later at an average price of $63,231.
The remaining Bitcoin was accumulated in recent weeks as BTC’s price moved higher, reaching nearly $80,000 last Friday, according to the source.
“Strive acquired an additional 1,110 $BTC for $81.5M at an average cost of $73,409 per bitcoin, bringing total holdings to ₿21,356,” Cole wrote on X.
Holdings have climbed sharply since May
The latest purchase marks Strive’s second reported Bitcoin acquisition in recent months. The firm held 15,009 BTC on May 12 before increasing its position to 21,356 BTC.
That means Strive’s reported holdings have grown by 6,347 BTC since May 12, based on the figures provided.
Strategy remains on the sidelines
The move contrasts with Strategy, described in the source as the world’s largest corporate holder of Bitcoin. Strategy has reportedly made no BTC purchases for almost two months.
Instead, Michael Saylor’s company has focused on rebuilding its US dollar reserve, which the source says is now above $6.5 billion after its latest initiatives.
The contrast leaves investors watching two different treasury playbooks: Strive continues adding Bitcoin during a market rebound, while Strategy appears to be prioritizing liquidity before making its next move.
