Ripple Wallet Moves 35M XRP—Mystery Address Relays 6.5M Within Hours
Whale Alert flagged a 35,000,000 XRP transfer (about $52.4 million) from a wallet labeled “Ripple” to an unlabeled address at 00:21 UTC on Oct. 2. The source cites Xrpscan records showing the sending account is tagged as Ripple and linked to ripple.com. The transaction included a destination tag, and the sending account reportedly held about 42.9 million XRP after the move.
Tag hints at an intermediary
According to the source, the payment carried a destination tag—a number used on the XRP Ledger to route funds to a specific customer or purpose inside a shared address. Exchanges and custodians commonly rely on destination tags, which can indicate an intermediary rather than a private holder.
6.5M XRP forwarded within hours
The source reports that the receiving wallet, opened in December 2024, did not retain all the funds. Its on-chain history shows three outbound transfers to a single address within roughly two and a half hours, all using the same destination tag:
• 00:58 UTC: 1.5 million XRP
• 02:52 UTC: 2.5 million XRP
• 02:53 UTC: 2.5 million XRP
Per the source’s review of Xrpscan, that activity leaves about 28.6 million XRP in the first receiving wallet, while the downstream address holds roughly 6.5 million XRP—nearly the amount just forwarded. Neither wallet is publicly labeled, and control of the addresses remains unknown.
Same Ripple account was active around escrow unlock
The source adds that the same Ripple-labeled account sent 25 million XRP to a different address on Oct. 1, along with several smaller transfers (250,000 to roughly 3 million XRP) on Sept. 30. The timing coincides with Ripple’s regular monthly schedule: the source notes Ripple unlocked 1 billion XRP from escrow on Oct. 1 and typically re-locks most of it (after the Sept. 1 release, the source says 700 million XRP was re-escrowed, leaving about 32 billion locked). The source characterizes 200–300 million XRP per month as the amount that typically reaches the market.
